Weight Loss Injections

Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) are the brand names for drugs that are commonly referred to as weight loss injections. They are also known as GLP-1 (Glucagon Like Peptide 1) agonists and used for the management of type 2 diabetes by lowering blood sugars and promoting weight loss.

How do they work?

These drugs mimic naturally occurring hormones that tell your body that you are full and suppress your desire to eat so soon.

Who can have these medications?

At the practice we are currently only prescribing these medications to patients who are over 18 and meet the clinical requirements.

Guidance from Norfolk & Waveney ICB (the commissioners) on the current position can be found below:

If you are eligible for this medication, you will be contacted directly by the practice, please do not ask the practice to have these prescribed and please do not request an appointment to discuss this.
