Flu Clinics

There will be 3 walk-in flu clinics on:

You are eligible if you are/have:

Aged 65 or over

Or have diabetes/cancer/stroke/heart disease/asthma/chronic respiratory disease/chronic kidney or liver disease/spleen removal/weakened immune system/transplant patient/Parkinson’s disease/pregnant/morbidly obese/carer

Children aged 2 and 3 at 31st August are eligible for a nasal flu vaccine but need to make an appointment with Lisa or Cammille

Shingles - if you are aged 70 or 78 you are eligible for a shingles vaccine.  If you are aged 71 to 73 or 79 on 1st September and have not previously had a shingles vaccine you are entitled to one.  Please make an appointment.

Every patient registered at the surgery has an allocated GP which is Dr McAnsh.  He is responsible for your overall care but you can see whichever GP you prefer.

If you are over 65 years and would like a pneumococcal vaccine please contact the surgery. 

All patients over 75 who do not already attend the surgery for an annual review are welcome to book a health check with the health care assistant.

If you have a disability such as deafness, blindness, partially signed, learning problems and feel you may need help accessing or understanding your health issues please let us know so that we can offer help.

You can book an early morning appointment on Thursdays from 7.30am.  Appointments are available with a doctor, nurse or health care assistant.

 
If you haven’t yet signed up for GP Online Services simply call into the practice with two forms of photo ID and proof of address. We can sign you up there and then. GP Online Services makes it easy to book appointments online, request repeat prescriptions and view some of your medical records. Find out more about this on www.nhs.uk/GPonlineservices
If you are not able to attend an appointment you have booked, for whatever reason, please let us know. We can then offer that appointment to someone else that needs it.

The number of patients missing appointments continues to be a problem – in the past six months 414 patients failed to attend their appointments wasting a staggering 85 hours of  NHS time. This adds to patient waiting times and causes a serious drain on the practice’s resources.  If you cannot keep an appointment please cancel it so that another person can be seen – this is only common courtesy and would help reduce waiting times.

Our clinical system is able to send you an automated text reminder of your appointment which we hope will cut down on missed appointments; please help us by giving us your mobile number.

You can now access your summary care record, detailed coded record, order repeat prescriptions or book an appointment with a doctor on line - please call in at the surgery to register for this service with some form of identification.  You will be given a user name and password and instructions.  Once registered you can also access the system via the buttons on this website. You will be able to request access to all data entered into your medical record after 31/3/2017.

We use GP2GP transfer which enables patients' electronic health records to be transferred directly and securely between GP practices. It improves patient care as GPs will usually have quicker access to your records when you register as a new patient.

We provide daily updates to the SCR (Summary Care Record) so that your medical records are kept up to date.

If you live out of town and are housebound you can telephone your repeat prescription order between 12 and 6pm - please have the names of your medication to hand when you phone.

Out of Area Registration

New arrangements introduced from January 2015 give people greater choice when choosing a GP practice. Patients may approach any GP practice, even if they live outside the practice area, to see if they will be accepted on to the patient list.

GP practices have always had the ability to accept patients who live outside their practice area. Regardless of distance from the practice, the practice would still provide a home visit if clinically necessary.

The new arrangements mean GP practices now have the option to register patients who live outside the practice area but without any obligation to provide home visits.

Out of area registration (with or without home visits) is voluntary for GP practices meaning patients may be refused because they live out of area.

If your application is considered the GP practice will only register you without home visits if it is clinically appropriate and practical in your individual case. To do this we may:

  • Ask you or the practice you are currently registered with questions about your health to help decide whether to register you in this way
  • Ask you questions about why it is practical for you to attend this practice (for example, how many days during the week you would normally be able to attend)

If accepted, you will attend the practice and receive the full range of services provided as normal at the surgery. If you have an urgent care need and the surgery cannot help you at home we may ask you to call NHS 111 and they will put you in touch with a local service (this may be a face to face appointment with a local healthcare professional or a home visit where necessary).

We may decide that it is not in your best interests or practical for you to be registered in this way. In these circumstances we may offer you registration with home visits, for example, if you live just outside the practice area or we may not register you and advise you should seek to register (or remain registered) with a more local practice.

If accepted but your health needs change we may review your registration to see if it would be more appropriate for you to be registered with a GP practice closer to your home.
